Mahabharata : Yugas, Rivers, Kingdoms, Pilgrimages and other topics
Mahabharata : Yugas, Rivers, Kingdoms, Pilgrimages and other topics is a compilation of the contents appearing in the great epic Mahabharata about several short topics viz Subjects included in Mahabharata, Devarshi Narada’s profile, Brahma’s Neeti shaastra (an amazingly comprehensive document which appears to have been lost), Description of Yugas, Amazing lands, Characteristics of good speech (so technical and beautiful), Rivers & countries (one wonders what happened to all these rivers), Pilgrimage and pilgrim centres, Inconsistent Count of soldiers (one wonders why such inconsistency exists; is it due to extrapolations later?) and Miscellaneous passages. These are some of the not so well known topics that could interest many.
I have extracted these contents from my other comprehensive & unique work on Mahabharata called Mahabharata–Spectroscope. (See http://www.ghvisweswara.com/mahabharata-2/mahabharata-spectroscope-a-unique-resource/). Whereas the material in that was included in the order in which it appears in the original epic, in this compilation I have grouped them by meaningful Topics & Sub-topics thus making it much more useful to the student/scholar of this epic.
I hope the readers will find the document of some interest and use.
Please see under Menus ‘Mahabharata’ and ‘More Compilations’ for my other topic based compilations based on Mahabharata.
